Add.Additive – Add additive manufacturing to Portuguese industry
Project name: Add.Additive – Add additive manufacturing to Portuguese industry
Code: POCI-01-0247-FEDER-024533
Main objective: Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a production technology that makes it possible to produce parts with complex shapes from digital data. In the context of current industrial competitiveness, AM is a technology that needs to be explored, as it can respond to market demands by generating fast solutions and making it possible to obtain innovative products with mechanical and functional characteristics similar to those obtained by definitive processes, with great freedom in terms of geometry and material selection, and with significant advantages in terms of flexibility, quality and production cost. In the context of FA, the relationship between material and production process is particularly important, as these factors are interdependent, unlike the traditional method of subtracting material. The study and development of this relationship will enable the creation of new products, processes and equipment, and is the basis of the entire mobilization project. The structure and organization of the project itself is geared towards simple reading and interconnected with the development and enhancement of results. Valuation in terms of research and development, in terms of providing equipment with national technology, materials for FA, engineering capabilities for high-performance components, inspection in accordance with standardization and strengthening a network of national infrastructures with worldwide spectrum.
The main objectives of the Add.Additive project are: to provide answers to the major research and development questions concerning the material-process relationship in Additive Manufacturing methods, based on a group of co-promoters with knowledge and experience in the relevant technical-scientific fields and with national and international representation. The aim is to leverage the results in various sectors, through a coordinated strategy between industrial partners and research institutes and centers, with the knowledge generated being valued through activities for the creation, dissemination, transfer, use and incorporation of technology based on three pillars: science and technological development; internalization of knowledge and technology by the users; and its use by potential end users.
