Insitu.BIOMAS – Reinventing biofabrication systems to produce temporary implants for tissue regeneration
Project Name: Insitu.BIOMAS – Reinventing biofabrication systems to produce temporary implants for tissue regeneration
Code: POCI-01-0247-FEDER-017771
Main objective: Insitu.BIOMAS – Reinventing biofabrication systems to produce temporary implants for tissue regeneration. The aim of the project is to develop a biofabrication system fully adapted for use in a hospital setting, designed for healthcare professionals to research and implement new solutions to respond to the problems associated with the shortage of organs and transplant therapies. The new 3D printing equipment, reinvented for use in hospital settings, will enable the production of temporary implants in a sterile environment, using different biofabrication technologies and innovative tools adapted to the needs of clinicians and healthcare technicians. This is only possible by consolidating the dynamics of articulation between the research of the RTD entities involved (in terms of tissue engineering, biomedical engineering, biomaterials) and business entities.
The innovative equipment will have a compact design and a simple, intuitive graphic interface for easy handling of all the systems. The functionalities of the insitu.BIOMAS equipment will enable healthcare professionals to obtain temporary implants in a more simplified way, allowing for reduced user intervention during the production process.
